Belly Dance Practice Schedule

If I want to become a pro, I need to start practicing & conditioning way more often so I’ve come up with a schedule. This schedule takes into account I have work, and a college class I’m taking.

If I can, I will go to the Wednesday class with Natalie Brown. Otherwise, here’s my schedule using DVDs (Rachel Brice’s Serpentine, Asharah’s DVD, Sharon Kihara’s DVD, and more). I hope to add Zoe Jake’s From A to Zoe soon.

This schedule will change when I want to incorporate other DVDs. What’s your belly dance practice schedule like?

Beats Antique - Alto
Charlotte, NC
5.5.12

The sound is terrible so I had to add the album version and make a few edits.

What a weekend!

Gotta say, this has been one of the best Charlotte visits! So many things happened. I spent time with family, celebrated my Lolo’s 90th birthday, reunited with an old best friend, and enjoyed some awesome Filipino food. I’ll be posting some pictures from the celebration, mostly of hula dancers. Before that however…

Beats Antique Concert

What a show! As a belly dancer, I feel so rejuvenated. Zoe & Auberon were beautiful and so inspiring to watch in person. Every time they were on stage, I could not take my eyes off them. Unfortunately, my camera battery died and I forgot to bring a spare so I was only able to record the first song, Alto (coming soon).

They “ended” their set with “We Swarm” with Zoe & Auberon dancing and playing the snare drums. We asked for more and they performed two more songs, the last song being “Cat Skillz”, complete with animal and robot masks! Also, because it was Cinco De Mayo (eye roll), they brought out pinatas filled with goodies. What a fun way to end the show!

Oh my gosh. For your first dance performance, WOW. Technically you are spot on, the choreography is very well put together. Your husbands music is gorgeous and complements you as a dancer wonderfully. Congratulations to the both of you!! Such good work and talent.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words!

30 Day Improv Challenge

Day 16

Resulina - Stellamara

You’re not mistaken. It has been a long time since I last did this challenge. Anyway…

This song, beautiful. It has a moderate tempo and when the singer comes in, I dance to her. With the way she sings, I felt I had to move slower and let the notes carry me. Love it! Then, it’s back to dancing to the instrumentation.

Finally! My college posted the videos from the talent show. Here I am belly dancing to my husband’s original music. Please, critiques are welcome!

The performance starts at around 1:30.

Why is this in the belly dance tag? Is this supposed to be a positive image?

Yes, I definitely want to be a part of this. Not yet, though.

Belly Dance Class Today

This evening, I attended a belly dance class with a friend taught by Natalie Brown. It was a great class but felt short. I was reminded about how much having a teacher can only help improve your skills as a dancer.

She knew my level of ability and challenged me. I was doing layering I hadn’t done before so I felt awkward. Eventually, I got it! She also made me more aware of my posture. Practicing on my own, I’m sure my posture slips and there’s no one to correct me.

At the end, she asked me if I was interested in joining Delirium Tribal of Columbia, SC. What… No big deal. It’s not like I’ve been wanting to do that ever since I learned of them.

Here’s what I look like after that:

What I feel like inside:

The conditions are that I would have to learn ATS which is no big deal, I’ve been wanting to. I would also have to attend practice once a week but when Alternacirque season comes up, attend twice a week. Sadly, I can’t do it right now because of school but I AM graduating this spring so I have may have the time this summer and fall. I WILL DO IT!!
