John Compton. If you’ve ever seen Hahbi’ru, you know the magic of this man on the stage. I can’t even begrudge him his thoughts on ATS:
They have, in my opinion, a strained posture and perform very different than we do. Their names of the movements are all the same as ours, but they perform more like a precision drill team with the steps fitting neatly in a structured form.

I love Hahbi’ru! In my mind, they’re continuing what Jamilah Salimpour started with the Faire performances. Even the modern version of Bal Anat isn’t the same. Nothing wrong with that, for sure.
